Casino Gaming at Red Shores

We operate two full-service gaming properties on Prince Edward Island, and оба стоят того, чтобы о них знать заранее. Our Charlottetown casino sits at 58 Kensington Road, connected directly to Eastlink Centre - that is our main gaming floor. Summerside is out at 55 Greenwood Drive, attached to Credit Union Place, and it naturally draws players from the western side of the island.

In Charlottetown you will usually find more than 150 slot machines on the go, and at certain times of year the floor layout pushes that number closer to 200. Denominations shift, themes change, and there is typically action on the floor from morning into late evening. For anyone looking for live cards, we keep a separate private room for table games. Right now that room runs Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em, and Baccarat.

Every guest who wants to play anything with us must be 19 or older. That is not just for the main casino floor - it includes slots, tables, and all Atlantic Lottery products available on either property. Our team checks ID at the door and on the floor where needed, with no exceptions.

Summerside operates on a slimmer schedule than Charlottetown. Over the years we have seen guests drive out assuming hours matched and then turn around. It is genuinely worth checking current opening times before you plan that trip, because table and slot availability are not identical between the two sites.

Getting Around the Charlottetown Floor

Первый визит проходит легче, когда человек примерно представляет, куда идти. The main entrance is on Kensington Road, and we ask for valid government-issued ID there because the 19+ age check happens at that point. Once you are through, the slot floor opens up in front of you and is fairly intuitive to walk. The table games room sits off to the side as a separate space inside the casino; if it is not obvious at first glance, any floor staff can point you in the right direction.

Guests tend to miss a few useful things on that first visit, so we usually highlight them:

  1. Ask about the rewards program before you sit down to play. Registering early means your very first spins and hands are already earning points instead of being lost value.
  2. Take a quick look at posted hours or redshores.ca before you head in, especially outside the peak months - hours can shift with the season.
  3. Dining is available right on-site in Charlottetown, so you can step away for a meal without leaving the property or moving your car.
  4. The private table games room may not have every game open every day. Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em, and Baccarat are in the mix, but it is better to check which tables are running when you arrive.
  5. For anything to do with current promotions, schedule changes, or race days, our floor staff are still the quickest way to get a clear answer.

One habit we often recommend to new visitors: take a slow walk around the floor before you play. No rush, no chips or bills out yet. That short lap usually saves time later and reduces the odds you end up at a machine or table that does not really suit what you wanted to play.

Live Harness Racing and Simulcast Betting

Harness racing is where Red Shores started, and it still sits at the center of what we offer. Charlottetown Driving Park has been hosting races since 1888. Summerside Raceway dates back to 1886, which puts it among the oldest continuously operating horse tracks in Canada. That is not a slogan we invented for a brochure, that is simply how long the tracks have been running.

Live racing typically runs from May through January at both locations. The Charlottetown grandstand is climate-controlled, so weather becomes less of a concern there, even deep into winter. You can watch a card in January and stay comfortable in your seat the whole time, and not every Atlantic Canadian venue can honestly say that.

Both properties include simulcast theatres that carry off-track racing from other locations. As a result, the betting menu stretches beyond whatever is happening live on our own tracks that day. Pari-mutuel wagering is used on both live and simulcast races, and tickets can be placed at teller windows or through simulcast theatre terminals.

  • The Charlottetown casino at 58 Kensington Road is connected to Eastlink Centre and features between 150 and 200+ slot machines on the main floor.
  • A private table games room in Charlottetown offers Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em, and Baccarat.
  • The Summerside property is located at 55 Greenwood Drive, attached to Credit Union Place, serving players from the western part of the island.

How Simulcast Betting Works Here

The Charlottetown simulcast theatre is the main area for off-track wagering. Once you have tried it one or two times, the routine becomes fairly straightforward.

Start by walking into the simulcast theatre inside the Charlottetown property. You will see screens listing the simulcast schedule, with tracks, race numbers, and post times rotating through. From there, choose whether you prefer a staffed betting window or a self-serve terminal.

When you are ready to wager, pick out your race, the track you want, and the bet type - win, place, show, exacta, and other standard formats are usually listed. Let the attendant know, or tap it in if you are at a terminal, then set your wager amount in Canadian dollars. Check the printed ticket before you step away and keep it in a safe spot; that slip is what we use to verify and pay out any win.

To cash a winning ticket, head back to a window or terminal before the posted claim cutoff and present the ticket. The same process applies on live race days at either track when you are using the on-track windows. Standardbred Canada representatives are generally on-site on race days as well, and over the years they have been a helpful resource for guests who want more detail on specific horses, drivers, or race conditions.

Background and History

There is more than a century of racing built into both of these properties. Summerside Raceway was here long before most modern entertainment venues in Atlantic Canada appeared, and Charlottetown Driving Park followed just behind it. That continuity is not common, and it shapes how we look at what we are offering. For us it is not just about a casino floor; it is a racing venue with roots that run straight through the province.

Red Shores operates under the Atlantic Lottery framework. You will see the brand promoted through alc.ca alongside our own site at redshores.ca, and that connection ties our responsible gaming standards and age checks into the broader structure Atlantic Lottery maintains. We position ourselves as Atlantic Canada’s Premier Entertainment Destination, and in practical terms it is the mix of live racing, simulcast betting, casino play, and dining under one roof that lets us do that.

Tourism partners such as Discover Charlottetown and Welcome PEI list us as a key visitor attraction in the region. That has grown out of how the properties are actually used by locals and visitors, not from a one-time campaign.

Our social channels stay active. Guests can find us on X as @Red_Shores, on Facebook as @redshoresPEI, and on YouTube under Red Shores Racetrack & Casino. The YouTube channel includes a live-stream section for racing content. Race calendars, casino promos, and event updates all pass through those channels on a regular basis.

Dining and Events

At the Charlottetown property, dining tends to fold naturally into the visit rather than sit off to the side. We have multiple on-site restaurant options, and current menus are posted at redshores.ca. Those menus adjust across the year, so if you are planning a night around a specific meal or style of service, the site is the place to confirm details first.

Events run across the calendar, linked closely to both the racing schedule and casino promotions. The May-to-January stretch for live racing gives us a steady backbone of race days in both Charlottetown and Summerside. On top of that, casino-specific promotions are announced through our website and social channels as they are scheduled.
